"The Ageless Mark Martin" Signed Original Watercolor, pen and ink art

$ 1495

Actual Art Size: 24" x 24 3/8"

This fine original painting by American motorsports artist George Bartell highlights the glory years of NASCAR star Mark Martin. Paired with Ford, Jack Roush and Valvoline the veteran Arkansas Sprint Car star placed in NASCAR’s top 5 for 13 years. Martin’s broad career stretched from 1981 when he started on the Arkansas bull-rings right through 2013, always one of the toughest and most consistent racers in the game. Shown here in his familiar 2000 Ford Taurus #6 with Valvoline livery, this fine piece of original art would make an impressive centerpiece in any office or trophy room.

This piece is signed by Bartell followed by the AFAS insignia which Bartell proudly included to indicate he was a member of the elite Automotive Fine Arts Society, a small group of painters and sculptors who are recognized for their portrayals of the automobile.

Peter Brock, world renowned automotive designer, met the artist when they both attended Art Center College of Design in the mid ‘50s. Years later when Brock was creating Cobra ads for Shelby American and had no cars to photograph, Brock hired Bartell to “create” cars via his artwork. Those ads have become iconic symbols of the era.

While visiting Bartell in his Southern California home in 2008, Bartell turned over his private collection to Brock to manage as he saw fit. When Bartell passed away on March 23rd, Brock decided to offer these amazing pieces of original art to the public with proceeds benefitting George’s widow.

The art comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (image above is a sample), signed by automotive designer Peter Brock (image above shows Brock autographing certificate), stating that he personally received the art from the artist at Bartell’s home in 2008 and that it is only now being offered for sale for the first time. The certificate also contains a picture of the artwork and states the medium of the art and the size of the art itself and with the framing.

The art is professionally framed, mounted on top of an acid free matt so the entire piece, including its depth, is visible. Spacers were then placed in the high quality black wooden frame between the matt and the high quality Plexiglas top so the piece stands proud of its background.

This is a rare opportunity to own an original by one of America’s most respected automotive artists. It’s a beautiful conversation piece you will enjoy for years. We thank you very much for your consideration!
